In honour of their former teacher’s retirement, the Suzanne Doyle-Yerxa Fund was created by past Kennebecasis High School students Brad Stanley, Mark Bishop, Chris Leveille and Jeff McAloon.
“We wanted to find a meaningful way to recognize the incredible community contributions of a woman who taught and mentored us,” says Jeff McAloon.
For the group of former students, starting the fund was a simple process. “We contacted the Board Chair at the time, who put us in touch with the Foundation Executive Director,” says McAloon. “We discussed our intentions and a draft fund agreement was established.
“This was a way to create a shorter-term gift to recognize a great woman as she was retiring.”
The hope for the fund is to assist students in pursuing a professional career in the arts. “Suzanne has always been a community builder of the arts and we hope that she is proud that her efforts to build future artists will continue through this fund.”
