Those who support the arts in Saint John likely remember the Ring Gallery. There, founder Barbara Ring sought out, promoted, displayed and admired local artist’s works that the community could also enjoy and purchase.
Stephen Ring and his wife Pamela inherited his parent’s extensive collection and, recognizing that it would be impossible to retain and display such a large trove of Saint John art, it seemed only natural to share and display the valuable array of works by Saint John artists.
By sharing the proceeds of the exhibition and sale of the Ring Collection, future artistic talent will be nurtured and young people educated. "It is unique in the aid it will give to graduates of both Saint John and Harbour View High School who are pursuing post-secondary studies in the visual arts.
Annual earnings from the fund will continue to provide financial aid for years to come to deserving and talented young people from our community, one which is rich in its artistic talent and traditions.
